Recruiter’s wives - Day 2
February 20, 2008Okay..so it is 5:41, still a few hours before the hubby gets home, supper cooking on the stove, & two little girls bickering behind me. BUT, I promised to list some perks - Well, let’s see:
1. Job Security (assuming they do their job & don’t get fired)
2. Insurance (enough said..but ours is $0 copays $0 deductables & $9 or less RX for 30 day supplies in most meds)
3. They are home at some point to put their heads on their or your pillow
4. They can possibly set their hours (how late or not - will get back to this one in a minute)
5. The pride of knowing your husband is who he is!! A MILITARY MAN
Those are just a few.. Here is me getting back on number 4 - Now, as the wife of Recruiter that is running a station (is the boss you could say) - Here is my advice - Make your men do their jobs.. Support them!! Ask them, “Hey Honey/Babe how many contracts do you need this month” (response “2″) “Oh really, well that will be a breeze. How many appointments do you need/have for tomorrow?” (response “I need 4 a day, but have 3 for tomorrow”) - NOW YOU KNOW WHY IT IS 10 O’CLOCK and they are just getting home - THEY NEEDED 4!! Now these are not my husband’s rules or your hubby’s boss’s rules - THESE ARE THEIR BOSSES sending the message down hill. Whether your ‘mission’ is to search and find 10 insurgents or 10 recruits - IT IS THEIR MISSION FROM THEIR MILITARY COMMAND! THEY MUST DO IT!! If they get all their appointments for the next day and get their contracts, there is NO need for them to still be working at 10 at night! I PROMISE!! So, if you want your man home, push them and support them - make them want to do a good job and get home early. Their NCOIC is NOT going to hold them late everyday if they are doing their jobs! Gotta go get supper off the stove..back for more later.
Recruiter’s Wives - Day 1
February 19, 2008Okay, for starters - Let me reiterate this - YOUR HUSBANDS ARE WILLING TO DIE FOR THIS COUNTRY AND YOU AT A MOMENT’S NOTICE!!!
Ladies, Let me tell you a little about myself and why I think I am qualified to give advice on this topic. I married my Marine in 2002 - He was NCOIC of a Recruit Sub Station with 2 offices and 3 sometimes 4 recruiters. He did that for the first 3 years, then he went to the District Headquarters where he was for 2 1/2 year - This was nice, but still not home before 6 most night and worked til 2 or 3 mission night; and now back on the streets as NCOIC of another Recruit Sub Station with 3 offices and 7 recruiters. We have been married 6 years. We have 2 1/2 kids - T is 10 and only here part of the time (shares his time with my husband’s ex wife - marriage was doomed from the start and then they fell victim to the 80% divorce rate of recruiting life - yes he was a recruiter then too); then there is J who is 4 1/2 and H who will be 2 in a few months. So, I am FULL TIME Stay at home mom, wife, housekeeper, teacher, bus, …. I would keep going, but I know you get the point. I have been a Marine wife for 6+ years and I have been a Recruiter’s wife for 6+ years - It is the only military living I know and the only military life I will ever know. We have 5 1/2 years left til 20 and my husband is a Career Recruiter. I thank God everyday that he is non-deployable. That is my main reason for choosing to have this outlook. Don’t get me wrong, there are days it is hard and I hate his job and his recruiters and/or his commands - That comes with ANY job and ANY man.. Even if they were working from home, believe me - you would have gripes and want to strangle him at times. I have to jump off for a bit, but when I come back.. I am gonna list some perks to get yall to START LOOKING UP!! - like - job security, insurance (free at that), etc….
